Health Care Reform-DO IT!!!

February 15, 2008

Well, now that the Gov has abandoned a payroll tax to help fund his health care plan, the business community is able to breathe a sigh of relief. As we all know, this was a terrible plan involving many small businesses that could never afford to offer health care benefits to its employees. It also never guaranteed that more Pennsylvanians would receive coverage! Government is simply a declining and unsustainable revenue source and simply can’t afford to provide the massive amounts of dollars required for “big government” programs like the one found in states like Massachusetts where the costs are well exceeding what was projected. With the rising premiums, the cost of Massachusett’s program for the current fiscal year is expected to be $245 million more than first projected. *No program developed anywhere has succeeded in containing costs. What is the althernative to progams like AdultBasic in PA that continues to burden the taxpayer? Why not consider such althernatives involving competition among various health care entities? Why not look into more consortiums where the large pool of money helps bring the costs down for those who belong (The current Chamber of Commerce plan!). Ultimately any idea needs to have cost containment and be more efficient than what is currently in place. There needs to be more focus on eliminating fraud and accountability for all parties working within the system to be sure, beyond a doubt, that any government program is strictly and exclusively provided for only those in great need. Government is never the answer to our problems and it was never meant to be…

Taxpayer Protection Act

February 8, 2008

Don’t you think it is about time to consider controlling the growth in state government spending?
Then why not buy in to this idea?

After all, the citizens of Colorado benefited with legislation that limited government spending to the rate of inflation and the growth in population indexes (remember TABOR or the Taxpayer Bill of Rights?). By choosing to limit government, Colorado grew its economy starting in the early 90’s. In fact, since Colorado voters first enacted TABOR in 1992, more than $3200 were returned to the average family of four.

Unfortunately for Pennsylvanians, during Gov. Rendell’s tenure the state’s general fund has grown 5 times faster than increases in the average weekly wage! Spending is definitley out of control in Harrisburg.

Talk to your state representative and state senator today to be sure they understand that government MUST live within its means!!!!

Sincerely,

Also, it’s not ALL bad news in Pennsylvania for a change. For example:
-PA added 2800 jobs in Dec., while 17 states lost jobs in Dec.
-Because the housing boom was more modest in PA, there are less losses to be realized
with the bust in the mortgage market.
-PA’s durable goods manufacturing sector has stabilized. The sector now provides 414,000 jobs and some employers say they are doing well-perhaps aided by the weaker dollar that makes American made goods cheaper overseas. All heavy manufacturing states like PA benefit from the cheap dollar!

Hey, let’s accentuate the positive for a change!!!
